27 show.

So the trip up to Sydney went down a treat, for the first part.. we went by Canberra and checked in with some friends Saturday night, checked out some things Sunday, the soft sculpture show that's on now at the national gallery - if you haven't been and you're able to.. I suggest you check it out, it's really worth it!
On Monday we trekked on up to Sydney, straight into Chippendale's Ma.Gallery, directing with a 40 year old map, which was quite funny, because roads that are there now, weren't on the map and vise versa - dropped off our works, then headed to our friend, eels' place.
The show was on the Wednesday night, went down a treat! Lot's of good work! Loved the space. The girls that run Ma are great and did a really fantastic job. I'd definitely like to partake in their shows in the future.
Pretty much after the show, the week went down hill - we were ditched by the owner of the car we drove up in haha. Pretty funny to think about now, but hey.. it's not cool being left in a different city when you have commitments in Melbourne to get back to and no money. So Tori, thanks for that one.

Ma.Gallery is 27 Dick Street in Chippendale, Sydney, NSW. For those who are interested in checking that out.

my obsession

If you're one of my friends, you probably know how obnoxious I can be when it comes to the Avocado. I just thought, that I might look into growing my own tree, in the yard.. or I guess maybe a large pot plant. This is definitely a good idea.

I was getting all "imaginative" with the idea. A wonderful idea. A wonderland, perhaps. So, this is what I hope to happen. I grow the seed, I water it, it grows.. and grows. Into a massive tree, when I can lay under it and just spread it over everything, bread, crackers, whatever. Make drinks and stuff, all avocado based. It'd be madness.
So the tree grows so big, i'm able to climb into it, lay back and read books or draw. Okay, so now I start to think how amazing it would be if the tree grew so out of hand, that it was to cover the house I live it, two stories of lush fresh avocados. I could live in this tree, it'd be an extension to the house!

That's about as far as it got. I just liked the idea of growing my own avo bush. Might have to look into it shortly.

new work

I finally got around to uploading some of my recent work. I've been playing with pens on paper-that's pretty much all that i've been doing of late. Kind of just, hibernated in the studio. It's getting cold here in Melbourne, so I'm avoiding leaving the house as much as possible haha. It's only Spring, though - I'd hate to know what i'll be like in actual Winter when it arrives.

I hope you enjoy the below.

busy, busy...

Very exciting, putting together some new projects which will be unveiled soon enough. Currently taking a break from being in the studio cutting away, arranging bits and pieces. It's something I've had in my head for a little while, but haven't actually put together. Today's the day.

Hollie and I met up with my friend from back home, Kylie Bawden yesterday morning for a coffee in town; the art store in Degraves has/had a 20% sale and on our way there, a busker by the name of "Passenger" so happened to be playing outside the store. He was great! I looked him up and he's actually far from just the typical busker.
Check out his Myspace, HERE.

Hollie and I will be attending his final performance by the look of it (unless he heads back to the streets) tonight at the Empress.

That's it for now, best head back to the studio, back to the grind.

More: Trent Parke.

These are great, except for the stupid Nokia Commercial in the first one.
